The origins of the organization is well steeped in the history of the Canadian Government, it was a group of men which held positions in
the varies ministries and government agencies that met to discuss mutual security problems and to get together for social functions. The
original group started informal meetings around 1946 or 47, but it was only later that there were funds to pay for an incorporation, and the
need to officially be recognized.

As federal  professional organization, incorporated in 1954. The Canadian Society for Industrial Security Inc. is a professional association
for persons engaged in security in Canada.

The Society is a principal forum for professional security concerns and issues and it provides the impetus for developing high standards for
security education and training programs for security professionals.

As a national organization CSIS, Inc. supports efforts to make Canada, Canadians and the security industry a safer environment in which
to work and serves on committees that have a direct impact on the roles, standards and powers of industrial security practices in Canada.
